In April last year, the company transported and stored the Horns Rev 3 transformer units at the port of Esbjerg, and assisted in the loading, transport and installation of the units in June 2016.

Klaus Odby, Manager Port Agency for Blue Water, said: “We have worked together with Vattenfall on several projects and look forward to continuing the good working relations we have built. For Horns Rev 3, our experienced staff will provide many of our core services and ensure a high level of quality and safe operations throughout the project. Horns Rev 3 means a lot for the local companies in Esbjerg, and it is also important for us to be a part of.”

Horns Rev 3 will comprise 49 MHI Vestas 8MW turbines, optimised at 8.3MW. The wind turbine installation is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2018, with the work set to be carried out by A2SEA’s Sea Installer.

Once commissioned in 2018, Horns Rev 3 will be the largest offshore wind farm in Danish waters.
