Sway Signs Contract With Metcentre of Full-Scale Testing of Floating Offshore Wind Turbine (Norway)

Sway AS will test a 2.6 MW turbine on their own developed flow system. Testing is expected to start in the first quarter of 2013, and will have a duration of 5 years.

The installation has a height above the sea-level of 60 meters, and stick 60 meters deep.

Testing will take place in the same area where Hywind is located west of Karmøy.

Marine Energy Test Centre AS (Metcentre) operates a test center for marine renewable energy with emphasis on floating offshore wind installations. Test Center is co-located with Hywind, and has a collaboration with Statoil regarding infrastructure.

Metcentre provides infrastructure, licenses and services for the testing of floating offshore wind installations. The test center is located in Karmøy in Rogaland county.
