Reef Subsea Provides Installation and Trenching Services to Offshore Industries (UK)

Business & Finance

Reef Subsea AS announced that its new UK subsidiary, Reef Subsea Power & Umbilical Ltd. – based in North East England – is able to provide subsea installation and trenching services to its clients in both the Offshore Oil & Gas and Renewables markets. The company has just announced an order for a new Jet Trencher ROV that will be available in the summer of 2012.

Reef Subsea Power & Umbilical, based in Stockton-On-Tees, will provide the installation and trenching of submarine cables (power, inter-array, seismic) and umbilicals to its clients – oil & gas operators and contractors, energy companies, offshore wind farm developers, project management & engineering houses as well as product manufacturers.

Reef Subsea Power & Umbilical’s range of capabilities includes onshore and offshore project management & engineering for the installation and trenching of submarine cables and umbilicals, plus remedial and deburial services. They plan to offer their clients a worldwide service.

Reef Subsea Power & Umbilical Ltd. will initially perform subsea cable and umbilical installation and burial work scopes from the CSV Polar Prince, a DPII construction vessel which has already installed and trenched power cables in both the Thanet and Greater Gabbard offshore wind farms. Polar Prince’s charter to Reef Subsea from GC Rieber Shipping has been extended and the vessel is today fitted out with a complete installation spread, including a SMD MD3 cable plough. The vessel will be available shortly for a range of work scopes following its successful completion of the inter-array installation scope at the Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm.

In the summer of 2012 the new SMD designed-and-built Jet Trench ROV will be delivered to Reef Subsea Power and Umbilical Ltd., which will encompass the very latest ROV technology allowing significant jetting power providing up to a 3m burial capability in ground conditions varying from soft to hard. The unit will be delivered complete with a dedicated high sea-state launch and recovery system.
