Seismic+ Improves Osiris Projects Manage of Large Seismic Datasets (UK)

Osiris Projects prides itself on high quality reporting, an aim which can only be achieved through continuous investment in the very latest in hardware and software. The first element in the all-new Coda Survey Engine range, Seismic+ provides Osiris Projects with an excellent solution to effective and efficient seismic data processing, interpretation and reporting.

The size of ultra-high resolution datasets ordinarily presents a significant challenge to geophysicists, the impact of which is drastically minimised with Seismic+.

The Coda Survey Engine has been developed using the latest in database technology allowing fast access to all survey information, providing the end user with a distinct advantage in terms of efficiency.

This allows more considered interpretations and, ultimately, improves the standard of reporting.

Senior Geophysicist with Osiris Projects Robert White comments “Seismic+ has greatly improved the way in which we manage and interpret large seismic datasets. Being able to select and view lines instantly in their entirety whilst including interpretation from intersecting lines means a better more informed interpretation can be made within a shorter timescale.”

As a multi-disciplinary firm, consistency and compatibility of data is another key concern for Osiris Projects. Supporting the widest range of file formats, Seismic+ offers a coherent, intuitive platform for accurate comparison of data.

The GIS overview function displays the track of every line in the database, overlaid onto charts or other relevant survey imagery such as sidescan mosaics, multibeam bathymetry or magnetometer contours.

This level of functionality and flexibility is ideal for complex projects incorporating various acoustic methods, such as Round 3 offshore wind projects. Osiris Projects undertook a complete Round 3 wind farm survey in 2010, using Seismic+ for all geophysical data processing, interpretation and reporting with excellent results.

Robert White notes, “When interpreting seismic data it is important to review how the sub-bottom relates to and influences other datasets. The GIS overview function has allowed us to quickly and efficiently build up the bigger picture of what is happening within the site. The functionality and ease of use of Seismic+ has allowed us to substantially increase the productivity and accuracy of seismic interpretation over large sites.”

Seismic+ enables raw data to be effectively combined and transformed into comprehensive, precise site visualisations.

As these visualisations are used to inform decision-making and progress to the next stage of the project, using high quality data is financially viable; reducing uncertainty, lowering risk and therefore potentially the cost of capital, allowing greater access to project financing.
