UK Names Five Sites as Centre for Offshore Renewable Engineering

The UK government named five sites as a national Centre for Offshore Renewable Engineering (CORE).

Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft where among them.

New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership earlier submitted application to the government for these two locations.

It is hoped that the new status will attract thousands of new jobs to Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

These two ports are closest to £50bn of capex to be invested in offshore wind, nuclear, gas storage and decommissioning over the next 20 years.

Andy Wood, chairman of the New Anglia Local Enterprise said that they are trying to attract as much investment as possible to Suffolk and Norfolk due to the huge opportunities in the offshore wind industry over the upcoming years.

Beside Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft , Tyneside, Hartlepool, the Humber and Sheerness have also been named Centres for Offshore Renewable Engineering.
