As part of its commitment to the environment (social, economic and environmental), Ormazabal has promoted and implemented the application of ecodesign tools in the design phase of products, in order to minimize the carbon footprint both in the electricity distribution network and when integrating renewable energy.
Ecodesign Basque Center is an entity based in the Basque Country, incorporated in a framework of collaboration between private sector and the Basque Government, which aims to design and implementation of innovative ecodesign projects.
The 7 founding members are: CIE Automotive, Fagor, Gamesa, Iberdrola, Ihobe, Vicinay Ormazabal chains and in collaboration with the School of Engineering of the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU). It has entered into a strategic alliance with The Life Cycle Centre in Sweden (CPM), one of the key international ecodesign institutions.
