First Tripod Loaded onto OFFSHORE BHV I (Germany)

The first foundation structures for offshore wind energy facilities were loaded onto the special pontoon OFFSHORE BHV I, which is 70 meters long and 32 meters wide, in Bremerhaven’s Fischereihafen on February 14.

Weighing up to 900 tons, the tripods will be transported by rail directly from the loading facility at the manufacturer’s plant to the pontoon. This will be followed by shipment to the ABC peninsula set up specially for this purpose at the BLG Auto Terminal and temporary storage until the tripods are loaded onto the installation vessels designed to install them at sea.

BLG recently received the order for transport and storage of 70 tripods for the wind farms “Borkum West II“ and “Global Tech I“ from the manufacturer, Weserwind Offshore Construction. The heavy-duty pontoon OFFSHORE BHV 1 is a key element in BLG’s chain of logistics services for the rapidly growing offshore wind energy sector. BLG offers holistic logistics solutions for managing supply chains for wind turbines, from procurement to production right through to installation at sea.
