Germany: Windkraft Signs Agreement to Construct 5 MW Wind Turbines for XEMC Windpower

On February 28/2012, Windkraft FIT GmbH, XEMC Darwind B.V. and XEMC Windpower Ltd. concluded a Turbine Supply and Erection agreement with regard to the construction and supply of 10 wind turbines of 5 MW each to be installed at a site in the North Sea off the coast of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The total contract value is in the range of € 70 to € 90 million.

Realization of the Albatros 1 project is expected in the year 2015.

Windkraft FIT will install their foundations and the XD115/5 MW wind turbine to be supplied by XEMC Darwind today ranks amongst the first multi MW offshore dedicated Direct Drive Permanent Magnet Generator Turbines.

Signing of the contract also signifies the first cooperation between a Chinese owned turbine manufacturer located in Europe and a well reputed European offshore wind park concession holder.

Directors of both companies regard the contract as a first step towards a future strategic partnership whereby such close cooperation will lead to an important breakthrough in making offshore wind energy more competitive compared to traditional ways of generating electricity, whilst keeping design integrity and quality at the highest possible levels.
