UK: Natural Power Opens New Office in Horsley

Leading international renewable energy consultancy group Natural Power has opened a new office in Horsley, near Newcastle, supporting Clients with a full range of ecological wind farm services.

The new office will help build on Natural Power’s respected marine ecology services, with improved benthic ecology offerings, as well as increasing their offshore and onshore survey teams. In addition, Natural Power’s Newcastle office will provide a base for staff working on offshore sites such as Blyth Demonstrator and Humber Gateway.

Natural Power is currently conducting ecology work on over 40 UK wind farm sites both onshore and offshore. The benthic and fish ecology services are provided for EIA baseline, construction and post-consent monitoring requirements for Clients, with expert advice being given in survey design and consultation strategy for stakeholders and regulators.

Dr Jane Lancaster, Senior Ecologist at Natural Power commented: “As the renewable sector continues to grow, more opportunities and work become available in the field of ecological assessment. Newcastle is a centre for research in marine ecology and technology, and is therefore the perfect place to grow the marine ecology business.”

Richard Walls, Director of Ecology & Hydrology at Natural Power commented: “This new office will allow us to continue working effectively for our clients and manage all ecology related aspects of wind farm projects, throughout pre-construction, construction and operational phases. We hope that the establishment of our new office will attract experts in the field to join us in meeting the increasing demand for Natural Power ecology services in the UK.”

Natural Power is a globally based company and with offices in the UK, France, US and Chile. Newcastle represents the company’s seventh office in the UK and twelfth office internationally.
