TAG Energy Solutions is to have its approach to the prevention of accidents and ill health recognised at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Awards 2012.

The Billingham-based company, which manufactures monopile foundations, substructures and jackets for the offshore renewables industry, will be presented with a Gold award at this RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards, at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, National Exhibition Centre, on Wednesday, May 16.

The majority of RoSPA’s awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold level.

Dating back to 1956, the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards scheme is the largest and longest-running programme of its kind in the UK. It recognises commitment to accident and ill health prevention and is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes across the UK and overseas.

The accolade is in recognition of TAG Energy Solution’s outstanding commitment to Health and Safety Management and highlights the high standard of procedures that have been put in place since the completion of its £20million production facility.

The 6,920m2 production facility, which is located on the River Tees on the North East coast of England, has the capability to deliver up to 100,000 te of steel monopiles per annum.

Employing an innovative manufacturing process, the facility’s full-automated system rolls and welds large diameter tubulars for the offshore energy industries.

Alex Dawson, Chief Executive of TAG Energy Solutions said: “To have your efforts to create a safe working environment recognised by RoSPA is a huge honour. The Health and Safety of our staff, visiting customers and contractors to TAG Energy Solutions is paramount and receiving this award reflects our commitment to meeting and exceeding safety regulations.”

David Rawling, Awards Manager at RoSPA said: “The RoSPA programme provides well-deserved recognition for its winners, and spurs on other organisations to raise their standards of accident and ill health prevention. We congratulate TAG Energy Solutions on all its efforts, and the company’s commitment to the best practices of health and safety procedures.”
