UK: Vestas Gets Green Light for Kent Wind Turbine Plant

Vestas, Danish wind energy giant, has been given a green light for their wind turbine plant in Kent, according to BBC.

The application for over 70 hectares of land at Sheerness Dock has been approved by Swale Borough Council on Thursday and now needs government approval.

Vestas claims that the new plant which will produce V164 7.0MW will create 1,600 jobs.

In their application, the company is planning to erect three buildings for nacelle assembly, blade production and a new block for offices.

Swale Borough councilor Steve Worrall expressed fear over the number of jobs for Sheppey residents.

“I have concerns that they will be importing labor to the detriment of local people,” he said.
