UK: Pupils Learn About Offshore Wind Career Opportunities

Secondary schools across Yorkshire are involved in a careers education initiative called ‘Champions For Wind’, which has been developed by Forewind and Humberside Engineering Training Association (HETA), according to This is Scunthorpe news portal.

As a part of the project, pupils are studying career opportunities in offshore wind industry and also making informative videos, which are to raise knowledge about the sector as well as about the necessary qualifications and experience to find employment in offshore wind industry.

Furthermore, sixty participants from Malet Lambert School will also take part in Business Week’s Green Jobs Experience at the Sewell Skills Academy this week. During this event, they will practice various activities such as constructing and operating crane simulators.

“Changes in employment sectors have created a skills shortfall in the current and forecasted job market,” said Paul Brooke, director at Sewell Group.

“Our aim – through the Skills Academy and the Green Jobs Experience – is to make sure young people are ready and exposed to the world of work, to enable them to grasp the forces driving these changes.”
