Ocean Installer Selects Aberdeen as New UK Base

Norwegian based subsea construction and engineering firm, Ocean Installer, has selected Scotland’s energy capital to set up a new UK division, in a move that will see the company create up to 100 new jobs in the energy sector.

The company has signed a new ten year lease with Aberdeen Energy Park joint venture partners, Scottish Enterprise and Buccleuch Property, to occupy the entire 10,400 sq ft Innovation Centre, which will be rebranded Ocean Installer House, where it will provide a full range of subsea construction services. This new letting means that the Aberdeen Energy Park’s multi-let buildings have reached the highest occupancy level in four years.

Scottish Enterprise business infrastructure director, Allan McQuade, commented: “Scotland, and in particular Aberdeen, continues to be an attractive proposition for investment from the international energy sector. In partnership with Buccleuch Properties, we have invested in Aberdeen Energy Park to ensure Scotland has a high quality environment to foster future innovation and technological advances in the energy industry. We are delighted that Ocean Installer is setting up its first overseas base in Aberdeen Energy Park and look forward to seeing the company flourish in Scotland’s burgeoning energy sector.”

Cameron MacKay, Associate Director at Buccleuch Property, commented: “This letting demonstrates the success of the joint venture undertaken with Scottish Enterprise. The strategy to invest in the refurbishment of the buildings across the Parks alongside offering flexible accommodation and lease terms, is proving successful in attracting new organisations to the Parks.”

Martin Myhill Sisley, managing director UK at Ocean Installer, said: “We are delighted to have secured this office building, firstly because it will accommodate our current and future colleagues for the growth we anticipate wholly within a building, which Ocean Installer controls. Secondly because it really does make a statement that Ocean Installer is committed to Aberdeen and indeed the UK oil and gas sector.”

The Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce has already pre-let 4,720 square feet within The Hub building, which is also on the Aberdeen Energy Park and due for completion later this month. Following completion, a further 7,000 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation with car parking will also be available to lease.

The Aberdeen Energy and Innovation Parks are part of Energetica – a 30 mile low carbon energy technology corridor which is central to the areas vision to become a global energy hub.
