Chinese Company to Build Installation Vessel for European Offshore Wind Market

Chinese Jiangsu Jiaolong Heavy Industry Group (JHI) has won a contract for construction of a wind turbine installation vessel for European offshore wind market.

The company’s subsidiary JHI Engineering developed the DP-2 vessel after consulting several European wind farm operators, the Recharge news site writes.

It has been designed to operate in water depths of more than 60 metres and has a 600-tonne crane to manage the operations and maintenance of wind turbines.

The vessel will be delivered to a Singapore-based offshore rig and vessel owner in 2013, but the European client’s name was not revealed.
