Global Marine Energy's Office Brings Over 50 New Jobs to Middlesbrough, UK

Global Marine Energy Ltd., the largest independent provider of subsea power cable installation, maintenance and related engineering services worldwide, announced today that the company has officially opened its new office in Middlesbrough UK. The office will serve as the company’s base of operation in the Northeast and brings over 50 new jobs to the area.

“The industry is growing and us along with it,” said Mark Leggett, Global Marine Energy CEO. “We are proud of our position as the largest installer of offshore power cables in the UK and are pleased to be able to open up our new Middlesbrough office in close proximity to many of our partners, suppliers and projects in the North Sea.”

For well over a century the Middlesbrough area was an important centre of shipping, moving cargo of all types in and out of the area. Although shipping has since moved elsewhere, the growth of the offshore wind industry has resulted in the beginnings of a revitalisation of the port facilities with companies in the offshore wind industry moving into the area.

In April Global Marine launched the newest addition to its fleet, Cable Enterprise at a berth adjacent to Riverside Stadium. With the opening of this office Global Marine will employ over 50 new people in a wide range of new jobs which have been created due to the increased demand for their offshore cable installation services.

“We see this office as complimentary to our other UK facilities,” said Gabe Ruhan, CEO of the Global Marine Group, the parent company of Global Marine Energy. “Energy is a major growth opportunity for our business both here in the UK and elsewhere around the world. We are happy to be setting up shop in Middlesbrough and look forward to many years of industry growth nearby in the North Sea.”
