Wind Farm Update

Monopiles Installation Completed at Teesside Offshore Wind Farm, UK

Installation of the foundation monopiles for all 27 turbines at Teesside Offshore Windfarm has now been completed.

Work will begin soon on the next phase of activity that will see the installation of the above sea level turbines and associated subsea cabling. The first stage of this will see the yellow transition pieces installed onto the monopoles now in place.

EDF Energy Renewables began construction of the offshore wind farm between the mouth of the River Tees and Redcar in February 2012.

The wind farm is located 1.5km from the shore at its closest point and will feature 27 turbines, 126 metres high, for the production of clean, green electricity.

The 2.3MW turbines will be capable of producing over 60MW of electricity – enough green energy to power up to 40,000 households, or all of the homes and businesses in Redcar, Marske and Saltburn.
