UK: SMart Wind Launches Phase 3 of Consultation for Hornsea

The SMart Wind consortium, led by Mainstream Renewable Power and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH, today announces the launch of its Phase 3 consultation set to take place from 1st August 2012 to 12th September 2012. The consultation relates to the first offshore wind farm project within the Hornsea Round 3 Zone and its associated offshore cable route, electrical infrastructure, and connection to the existing National Grid substation located at North Killingholme, North Lincolnshire.

The primary purpose of this Phase 3 consultation is to provide an opportunity for a wide range of stakeholders to review and comment on the Preliminary Environmental Information Report (PEIR) which supports the pre-application consultation for Project One under the Planning Act 2008.

The PEIR for Project One presents the potential environmental impacts of Project One based on the information gathered and the assessments undertaken to date together with a description of the proposed development options.

The PEIR should be read in conjunction with the Hornsea Zone Project Update (Issue 3) which summarises in non-technical language the key issues presented in this report.

Following the early options Phase 1 Consultation Events in March 2011 and the subsequent Phase 2 Consultation Events in November 2011, this Phase 3 Consultation will be undertaken by correspondence only.
