Germany: HOCHTIEF to Exhibit at IdeenPark

HOCHTIEF will be exhibiting at IdeenPark, the largest technology exhibition experience in the Ruhr area in Germany, from 11 to 23 of August 2012. HOCHTIEF will present on energy infrastructure in the IdeenPark’s energy park at Messe Essen, Hall 3, booth 22.

Solutions for development of renewable energies will be presented under the motto “On the Energy Trail – With the Power from the Sea to the City”.

Dr. Frank Stieler, CEO of HOCHTIEF, said: “The development of sustainable energy infrastructure is an important growth area for HOCHTIEF. We are committed to the IdeenPark, because we want to raise awareness of sustainable energy supply. The energy park offers a great way for people, young and old, to become interested in the need for our technology and innovative solutions. “

In an energy game at the booth, visitors can discover how electricity produced by offshore wind turbines is cached in pumped storage plants and distributed with overground and underground cables, as required in the city. The children themselves can pedal, manoeuvre the path of the current and turn on or off the power in the city.

An acoustic model shows how the underwater sounds are heard, like the sound of a wind turbine installation in the sea, but also the innovations HOCHTIEF has developed to prevent the sounds to affect animals, such as porpoises. During the IdeenPark numerous experts from the offshore workers to the tunnel-engineering will provide answers and background information about the industry.

HOCHTIEF made numerous contributions to the energy switch. In the offshore division, the company offers services on installation and maintenance of wind farms across Europe and also wants to participate in the future development of the wind farms.

Currently, HOCHTIEF is involved in two wind farm projects, Global Tech I and Baltic 2 in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Both the offshore fleet of jack-up platforms and ships as well as the necessary personnel from deck workers to engineers up to the captain come from the company.

In addition HOCHTIEF is active in research and development: the experts in the offshore sector and tunnelling, together with Herrenknecht, are developing offshore foundation drilling, a sustainable process for the establishment of wind turbines with a capacity of more than 6 MW.

Furthermore, HOCHTIEF has a worldwide experience in installing power lines and building routes. With the ACS Cobra subsidiary company, HOCHTIEF has established COBRA Solutions Ltd, which will implement mainly overhead lines. With many years of expertise in the tunnel and power station construction, HOCHTIEF is therefore an ideal partner for the construction of tunnels and pumped storage power plants.

Finally, experts are developing and building  real estate that consume little energy, as well as developing facility and energy management concepts, so that buildings and facilities are operated in an energy efficient manner.
