USA: New Jersey Officials Call for Action on Offshore Wind

Proponents of offshore wind power in New Jersey and the State Senate President Stephen M. Sweeney are urging Governor Chris Christie to act on offshore wind development in the State, the NewsWorks site writes.

The Governor signed the Offshore Wind Economic Development Act two years ago; however completion of an offshore wind certificate program which would facilitate financing of wind farms is not taking the necessary pace.

In order to accelerate the process a consultant has been appointed by the State and the program is expected to be finalized by the end of the year.
