Denmark: Palfinger Awarded Commissioning Contract for Anholt Offshore Wind Farm

Leading service provider Palfinger Marine Services has been awarded the commissioning contract for 111 offshore cranes for DONG Energy’s offshore wind farm Anholt.

“We are pleased that DONG Energy puts their trust in our service, and very proud to be working with DONG Energy on a project of this scale,” says Ove Rossland, Managing Director of Palfinger Marine Services.

Engineering and management personnel at Palfinger Marine Services’ office in Norway is heading up the project and service personnel from Denmark and the Netherlands will work on the Anholt contract for a year.

Commissioning works will commence at the turn of the year 2012/2013 and will involve a number of service teams operating offshore to ensure that the 111 PALFINGER cranes are in operation by the end of 2013.

This project includes proven technical solutions in addition to extensive offshore testing on a considerably larger scale than previously performed. The chosen solutions have been developed over years through extensive experiences in participation with Palfinger Marine Services and its customers.

Palfinger Wind has designed and manufactured the 111 custom-made offshore cranes from its company in the Netherlands. Delivery has taken place during the first half of 2012. The cranes will provide for safe and fast unloading of supply vessels and flexible material handling on the platform.

Anholt Offshore Wind Farm will be Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm. With a capacity of 400 MW it will be part of a large-scale Danish commitment to the development of eco-friendly and renewable energy.
