Germany: BWE Publishes Books on Financing, Offshore Service & Maintenance

For the development of offshore wind energy in Germany, a very high demand for project financing is expected. Solid financing is crucial for the success and efficiency of wind turbines. Since there are very different types of operation, the right financing strategy is fundamental.

In the book “Finanzierung”, from the series BWE (Bundesverband WindEnergie) Market Overview special, various wind energy financing concepts are explained as well as the corresponding opportunities and risks. As the financing of offshore projects is very different from the ones on land, the models for onshore and offshore wind projects are described in separate chapters.

The growing importance of the service and maintenance business is at the heart of “Wind Energy Services–Service & Maintenance”. The asset portfolio is growing, hence an increasing number of wind turbines comes into high maintenance age. The service of wind power farms is becoming ever more important, because the life of the wind farms also increases the importance of the maintenance business.

Since the maintenance contracts often involve pitfalls, operators should examine the wind turbine contracts thoroughly.
