EMEC, FloWave to Collaborate on Reducing Risks in Offshore Renewables Industry (UK)

The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) and FloWave TT Ltd have agreed to collaborate by sharing data collected at EMEC’s wave and tidal test sites in the Orkney Isles, which will allow FloWave to replicate at scale the actual sea conditions at Orkney in its GBP 9.5 million onshore test facility, reports the Water Power Magazine news site.

To replicate the conditions in the test tank, FloWave’s team will work with EMEC’s engineers and scientists to turn EMEC’s data into an instruction set. The data has been collected through 10 years from buoys and other instrumentation deployed at the test sites.

This new partnership will bring an advantage to marine energy developers by reducing the cost of testing and diminishing the risk.
