UK: Aberdeenshire Councillors Back Moray Firth Wind Farm

UK Aberdeenshire Councillors Back Moray Firth Wind Farm

Aberdeenshire councillors have unanimously backed plans for Moray Firth wind farm construction, writes STV.

The GBP 4.5 billion project would be located in the Moray Firth, 12 miles off the Caithness coast. According to the reports, the wind farm will consist of 339 wind turbines which will be visible from the shore.

The company estimated that the construction will create 400 permanent jobs and 2,500 jobs during the peak construction of the 1.5GW wind farm.

Councillor Graeme Clark said: “Fraserburgh is an anchorage and we need to be careful about the impact on that area. The noise pollution created during the work and the effort needed to ensure that we preserve the sand dunes is very important.”

If Marine Scotland approves wind farm plans, the construction would start in 2015.
