SEA INSTALLER Arrives in Denmark

SEA INSTALLER Arrives in Denmark

On 7 December 2012, A2SEA’s new installation vessel, SEA INSTALLER, arrives in the port of Esbjerg, Denmark. Her journey began on 20 October 2012 as she departed from Qidong in China where she had spent the last 24 months under construction at COSCO shipyard.

”We are very proud of being able to welcome SEA INSTALLER and her crew to Denmark. The vessel is a second generation vessel for the offshore wind industry, built to transport and install offshore wind turbines efficiently. The vessel can transport more turbines at one time, which helps to reduce the installation costs of green energy. The working range is significantly larger for this vessel compared to the vessels that have worked within offshore wind until now,” says Jens Frederik Hansen, CEO of A2SEA.

He looks forward to seeing her in action: “We have been awaiting SEA INSTALLER’s arrival for some time now. Luckily, the journey through pirate waters went well, and now it will be exciting to follow how the vessel performs when she is put into op-eration soon in connection with the installation of 2 Siemens 6 MW turbines at DONG Energy’s project, Gunfleet Sand 3.”

SEA INSTALLER will be busy until 2014. First she will install test turbines on Gunfleet Sands 3, then she will sail to Denmark for the Anholt Project (February to April 2013) followed by West of Duddon Sands (from April 2013 until mid-2014) in the Irish Sea.

A2SEA is planning an “Open Vessel” event on 19 February 2013 in Grenå, Denmark.
