O&M Organisation Now Manages First Anholt Wind Turbines (Denmark)

Since spring 2012, DONG Energy has systematically established the operations organisation which will take over  operation and maintenance of Anholt Offshore Wind Farm, and the first nine wind turbines are now managed by the operation and maintenance organisation.

The first wind turbine technicians started in March 2012, and in May and August additional wind turbine technicians were employed in Anholt’s operating organisation, which currently employs 21 wind turbine technicians.

Since then, all wind turbine technicians have attended thorough safety courses in rescue at height, fire safety, rescue at sea and first aid, and they have all attended a Siemens rescue course adjusted to the work in the 3.6MW Siemens wind turbines, which DONG Energy has chosen  for Anholt Offshore Wind Farm and which includes work and rescue from small confined spaces.

Concurrently, the wind turbine technicians have attended Siemens’ internal training programme to be trained in servicing the wind turbines.

The wind turbine technicians have been involved in the construction phase where they have taken part in a quality inspection during the manufacturing process at Siemens’ pre-assembly site in Grenaa and offshore in the wind farm.

For a period of time, several of the wind turbine technicians have worked at night as they have helped connect the high-voltage part of the wind turbines to the power grid.

To make sure that the electric coupling does not interfere with the commissioning of the wind turbines, this work is performed at night as nine wind turbines are typically connected to the same cable string.
