Combi Lift Commences West of Duddon Sands Project (UK)

On January 23rd 2013, the MV “EIT PALMINA” commenced the West of Duddon Sands project for WindForceOffshore/Dong.

Combi Lift was awarded the project in August of 2012 as the flexibility of the fleet ensured the client guaranteed delivery of the heavy lift vessel with a very narrow window.

In 22 consecutive voyages the MV “EIT PALMINA” will transport a total of 108 transition pieces, weighing 340ts each and 108 monopiles varying in size and weighing up to 520ts each.

However, the scope of the project was not only limited to the transport. It also included design and manufacture of a unique and innovated lashing- & securing system enabling the vessel to sail unrestricted from Bladt Industries facilities to Belfast without any use of lashing wires. In addition to this and to comply with the lifting limitations, a tailor made lifting traverse was manufactured using a specially designed hydraulic lifting device.

For Combi Lift the West of Duddon Sands is a milestone project. It is also a very good example how Combi Lift works together with the client to develop professional large scale solutions within a limited time frame.
