UK Steel Engineering Selects Tymor Marine as Supply Chain Partner

Leading Scottish engineering company, Steel Engineering has selected Tymor Marine as a supply chain partner to support the delivery of major renewable contracts for Samsung at The Energy Park at Methil in Fife and for ScottishPower Renewables and Vattenfall at the East Anglia offshore wind zone off the Norfolk and Suffolk coast.

With offices in Glasgow and Aberdeen, engineering consultancy Tymor Marine has developed a strong reputation within the offshore oil and gas and renewables sectors and will be providing stability analysis and sea fastening services for the contracts.

Commenting on the contract award, Steel Engineering managing director Peter Breslin said: “It was critical to select a supply chain partner with extensive experience in this sector and with this type of contract. We have tracked Tymor Marine for some time now and have been impressed with the skills and experience within the company, as well as their ability to work in partnership with Steel Engineering to deliver our contracts on time and on budget.

“Where possible, it is always our strategy to award contracts to indigenous Scottish businesses, in order to actively support opportunities and employment in Scotland.”

Kevin Moran, business development director of Tymor Marine added: “We are delighted to have secured this new work with Steel Engineering and look forward to applying our experience and practical skills to these two significant wind-related developments.

“This is an excellent example of the Scottish supply chain working as it should to make use of the resources, knowledge and expertise that exist here in the field of renewable energy.”

The contract announcement created a buzz at the recent Offshore Wind and Supply Chain Conference and Exhibition in Aberdeen which was organised by Scottish Renewables and Scottish Enterprise. Visiting Steel Engineering’s stand, Fergus Ewing MSP, Minister of Energy and Tourism discussed the contract announcement with Peter Breslin and Kevin Moran.

Mr Ewing commented: “This partnership between two ambitious Scottish companies is further demonstration of the breadth and depth of Scottish expertise within the burgeoning renewables sector. It is extremely positive to see Steel Engineering award this contract to Tymor Marine.”
