Germany: Riffgat Offshore Substation Load-Out Completed

Germany Riffgat Offshore Substation Load-Out Completed (2)

The load-out of the topside for the Riffgat offshore substation was successfully completed.

This is an important milestone in this project, which enables our customer to supply renewable energy to its customers before this summer.

Offshore-Windpark RIFFGAT GmbH & Co. KG, a company owned by EWE Energie AG and Enova Energiesysteme GmbH & Co KG, awarded the contract to the Strukton Hollandia JointVenture in March 2011. The joint venture, consisting of Strukton Systems bv and Hollandia bv, supplies the 33/155kV offshore transformer substation on a turnkey basis.

The topside will be transported to the Riffgat wind farm, 15 kilometers northwest of the German island of Borkum, where Seaway’s heavy lift vessel ‘Oleg Strashnov’ will install it on the jacket, which was installed in September last year. The 33kV array cable and 155kV export cable were already pulled into the jacket during the past months. The wind turbines will be connected, once the Strukton Hollandia JointVenture has commissioned the substation.

The wind farm, with a rated power of 108MW, will be able to provide over 100.000 German households with renewable energy before this summer.
