Estonia Could Get One of the World’s Largest Offshore Wind Farms

Estonia could get an offshore wind farm that would be one of the largest ones in the world, with the capacity of 2.7 GW.

On March 26, Baltic Blue Energy OÜ, a company owned by energy businessman Endel Siff, submitted an application to the Ministry of Economic Affairs for the construction of offshore wind turbines off the Estonian coast, between Hiiumaa and Saaremaa islands, according to LETA.

The application includes the construction of 388 wind turbines totaling in 2,716 MW, but the company said that it will install 1.9 GW of wind power for now. The construction is not expected to start in five years, or more.
