Friesland to Present ‘All in One’ Hybrid Offshore Cables in Hannover, Germany

The demand for the so-called hybrid cables for converter platforms of offshore wind farms and on board vessels is ever more increasing.

In addition to the conventional copper wires, the cables combine numerous other components, such as pneumatic and hydraulic hoses, flexible coaxial cables or optical waveguides. “All in one” hybrid cables are space-saving, easily installed and completely secure.

Friesland Kabel GmbH, a specialist for marine and offshore connections, will present several innovative variations of its Sealine hybrid cable at the Hannover Messe (Hall 13, Stand C91). For example, a refractory camera cable intended for the use on the high seas. The new hybrid camera- cable from Friesland combines the connection cable, control cable and data transmission.

The hybrid cable has obtained the essential GL (Germanischer Lloyd) certification for marine applications. Furthermore, the camera cable is particularly robust, yet flexible, oil-resistant and salt water resistant and works reliably in a temperature range of minus 40 to plus 80 degrees.

The hybrid camera cable was first installed on the new offshore converter platforms BorWin beta and HelWin alpha, and will soon be installed on the SylWin alpha platform.
