Wind Farm Update

Planning Application Submitted for Atlantic Array OWF, UK

An application for the Atlantic Array offshore wind farm was received by the UK’s National Planning Inspectorate from Channel Energy Limited on Friday, 14 June.

In the next 28 days, the Planning Inspectorate will review the application and decide whether or not to accept it. This decision should be made by 12 July.

In March, RWE announced reduction of the project’s size, following the second phase of consultation with statutory consultees and taking into account the results of environmental and engineering studies of the site. The Atlantic Array offshore wind farm could produce enough renewable electricity to meet the average electricity needs of 900,000 homes each year.

The developer, Channel Energy Limited, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bristol Channel Zone Ltd, itself a wholly owned subsidiary of RWE npower renewables.
