Scotrenewables' CEO Receives 'Outstanding Achievement' Award (UK)

Scotrenewables Tidal Power Limited’s CEO, Barry Johnston, was recently awarded the 2013 Lennard – Senior Prize in recognition of outstanding individual achievement in the field of Marine Renewable Energy.

The Lennard prize, awarded by The Society for Underwater Technology (SUT), a multi-disciplinary learned society that brings together organisations and individuals with a common interest in underwater technology, ocean science and offshore engineering and was presented to Barry at the recent All Energy Exhibition in Aberdeen.

SRTP is a renewable energy research and development business based in the Orkney Islands. Founded in 2002, Scotrenewables has become a leading tidal turbine developer, and is the longest established, indigenous and still majority locally owned tidal energy technology developer based in Scotland.

SRTP have developed an innovative floating tidal energy converter known as the Scotrenewables Tidal Turbine.  Nine different scale models of the device have been tested extensively over the past 10 years both offshore and in laboratory environments.
