Leiston,Sizewell to Benefit from Greater Gabbard Wind Farm (UK)

Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm developers will grant GBP 150,000 to the Leiston and Sizewell residents as a part of the deal for the project’s substation, reports EADT 24 news portal.

The grant will be paid over a six-year period.

John Hill, Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm project director, feels that they have developed strong connection with the local community.

He said: “We’re keen to strengthen these connections even further and hope that this fund will see us continue to be a good neighbour to the people of Leiston and Sizewell.”

Stephen Singleton, CEO of Suffolk Community Foundation, welcomed the grant by saying: “This is a real boost for charities and community groups working in Leiston and Sizewell, and we know that this support will be greatly welcomed and put to good use in the months and years to come.”

All of the 140 wind turbines of Greater Gabbard, the 500MW offshore wind farm developed in the Thames Estuary, were commissioned last year in September.
