Isle of Man Eyes Isle of Wight's Energy Plan

A government delegation from the Isle of Man will visit the Isle of Wight this week, to learn more about the Isle of Wight’s plans for achievement of sustainable energy future, the BBC writes.

Namely, in 2008 the Isle of Wight launched an ‘Ecoisland Partnership’ within which the residents of the Isle of Wight are developing their own vision of a sustainable future for their island.

Within this scheme, the Isle of Wight plans to harness tidal and geothermal power.

The Isle of Man will try to follow this example, and become energy self-sufficient as well.

Member of the House of Keys, Richard Ronan, said: “A great deal has been achieved in the Isle of Man already but we need to explore further ways in which to use our environment sustainably, reduce our dependency on imported energy and improve our economic competitiveness.”
