ScottishPower to Decide on Three East Anglian Ports by Year’s End

ScottishPower said they will announce decision on how they will use three East Anglian ports for offshore wind development by the end of the year, reports EDP 24 news portal.

The company is considering three ports Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, and Harwich. It is yet to be decided if the company is going to use all three or just one of these ports.

ScottishPower plans to use these ports for the development of East Anglia One wind farm project located 43 miles south of Lowestoft, which will consist of up to 325 turbines.

“We are doing a huge amount of work in East Anglia and we have already started to create a lot of value delivering £15m worth of contracts in the local economy,” said Keith Anderson, ScottishPower’s chief corporate officer.

He continued: “It’s a massively important project for us as an organisation – it’s our biggest potential renewables investment across the group. ”

The project is expected to create up to 2,700 jobs during the construction.

Anderson also pointed out that ScottishPower is ready to invest up to £10bn in the next 7 year-period in the UK’s energy system as a means of bailing out UK from the recession.
