SEA INSTALLER Installs 30 Foundations at WoDS Offshore Wind Farm (UK)

SEA INSTALLER has finished installation of foundations at the West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm. She is now mobilising for installation of WTGs. The mobilisation takes place in Vlissingen, Holland. Afterwards, she will continue with the installation of 108 WTGs.

The work is being carried out by two of the world’s most advanced installation vessels: Swire Blue Ocean’s Pacific Orca and the SEA INSTALLER. A total of 30 foundations (MPs and TPs) has been installed by SEA INSTALLER. As SEA INSTALLER will take on the task of installing the 108 Siemens 3.6MW wind turbine generators, working right through the winter, Pacific Orca will finish foundation installation around the end of 2013.

The West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm is located in the East Irish Sea approximately 14 km from the nearest coast on Walney Island, Cumbria. It is situated in the vicinity of nearby operational wind farms: Barrow, Walney and Ormonde.

The West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm will comprise 108 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 389MW and ensure clean renewable energy for more than 300,000 UK households.
