Germany: BARD Repositions in Wind Energy Market, Announces Layoffs

BARD Group announced yesterday that it is repositioning itself in the wind energy market.

With the offshore wind farm BARD Offshore 1 construction completed, the BARD Group has set a milestone in offshore wind energy. By September, all 80 wind turbines will be connected to the grid.

After the completion of the construction phase of the Bard Offshore 1 project, the two chartered installation vessels are no longer needed, the company said in a press release. As a consequence, the need for personnel is also reduced; therefore, BARD will have to lay off around 120 employees in August.

Moreover, the company announced that a lack of specific investor for further jobs will also lead to additional reduction of the remaining 540 working positions.

Currently, BARD plans to ensure continuous operation of the wind farm BARD Offshore 1. The Company also has plans to position itself in the wind energy market and to provide services to third parties, both offshore as well as onshore. The services are in the fields of maintenance, service and repairs for rotor blades, etc.
