SeaGen 2.0MW Powertrain Testing at Narec, UK

Having gotten off to a flying start, the SeaGen 2.0MW test programme at The National Renewable Energy Centre, Narec continues to prove its success.

Siemens-owned MCT delivered the prototype powertrain and all associated equipment to the Narec facility in June 2013. Since that time, a large variety of tests have been conducted to rigorously test the new 2.0MW rated powertrain system.

The next phase of testing is about to commence with the Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT) due to run over the coming 12 weeks.

The engineering team have worked tirelessly in proving the success of the testing so far and proving further the viability of the SeaGen tidal technology.
