UK: Tidal Energy to Reveal Plans for Two Projects

Tidal Energy Ltd will unveil the next steps for the DeltaStream Demonstration Project at Ramsey Sound at a public exhibition on 22nd and 23rd November at St Davids City Hall. The Welsh tidal energy company will also introduce plans for a proposed new project at St Davids Head.

Assembly and testing of the DeltaStream device will take place in Pembroke Dock later this year, before the unit is deployed in Ramsey Sound in 2014. Here, it will generate clean electricity for the homes of St Davids over its 12-month demonstration period. The company also plans to develop a 10MW demonstration array a short distance away from Ramsey Sound, at St Davids Head.

Chris Williams, Development Director of Tidal Energy said: “The next phase of the DeltaStream project is very exciting, as the project has really moved on since the last time we held a public exhibition. We are looking forward to discussing the tangible next steps with interested parties.

“We are very grateful for the support the Ramsey Sound project has had from local communities to date, and this exhibition will be able to demonstrate just how close we are to getting the DeltaStream demonstration device into the water.

Mr Williams added: “The public exhibition will also introduce a project we are proposing with project developers Eco2 at St Davids Head, which will potentially generate 10MW of green electricity. We welcome anyone with an interest in the schemes to come along and talk to us.”

The exhibition, which is free and open to all, will take place in the main hall in St Davids City Hall from 2pm – 6pm on Friday 22nd November and 10am – 2pm, on Saturday 23rd November.
