USA: Maine Aqua Ventus I Gets Green Light

The Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC) gave an initial consent to Maine Aqua Ventus I offshore wind project yesterday.

Voting 2:1, the PUC approved the terms of an agreement between the state and the project’s developers, the Associated Press informs.

This will put the project on the path to compete for a USD 47 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.

“We’re very happy with the approval,” Portland Press Herald quotes Jeff Thaler, an assistant counsel at the University of Maine, as saying. “We now will continue discussions with the PUC staff and local interests to finalize the term sheet.”
