NASA’s Image of the Day: London Array Offshore Wind Farm

NASA Earth Observatory has released an image of the world’s largest offshore wind farm, the London Array, taken from space by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on the Landsat 8 satellite.

The image was captured on April 28, 2013; twenty days after the wind farm became fully operational.

In April last year, the London Array broke the Guinness world record by becoming the largest wind farm worldwide. It supplies electricity to nearly half a million UK households and reduces more than 900,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

You can see the NASA’s image of the London Array here.
