Germany: Hamburg and Husum Trade Fairs Sign Cooperation Agreement

The trade fair companies in Hamburg and Husum have now signed the agreement for cooperation as organisers of WindEnergy Hamburg and HUSUM Wind.

“That is the formal document setting out what we have been preparing in parallel for many months – the joint industry solution for the arrangement of the wind industry exhibitions,” said the two CEOs, Bernd Aufderheide of Hamburg Messe und Congress (HMC) and Peter Becker of Messe Husum und Congress, at the formal signing of the agreement in Hamburg.

Agreement in principle had already been achieved at the end of April 2013. Since then, the concepts for the two exhibitions have been defined in more detail, and at the same time their implementation in practice had been moved forward.

WindEnergy Hamburg, the leading international fair for the wind industry, will be held from 23 to 26 September 2014 for the first time, in Germany’s second largest city. More than 1,000 exhibitors from all parts of the world are expected for this premiere, presenting their innovations on some 65,000 square metres of exhibition space.

HUSUM Wind will be held from 15 to 18 September 2015; it is the central industry fair for the German language wind market, with a wide range of participants and specific requirements. This fair is likewise attracting a great deal of interest in the industry. Majors such as GE, Siemens, Vestas, Nordex and Senvion (formerly REpower) have already booked for HUSUM Wind, so that exhibitor commitments have already reached triple figures two years ahead of the event.

WindEnergy Hamburg is to be held at two-yearly intervals, giving companies in the global onshore and offshore wind industries a leading platform for innovation and dialogue. It reflects the whole of the value chain at international level, and is an expert forum for current and emerging key markets.

HUSUM Wind in the following year will establish a strong connection with practical operations in the German-language wind energy market. Thanks to its traditional and unique atmosphere, Husum is a representative showcase not only for international manufacturers, but also for innovative mid-sized companies.
