Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay (TLSB), what could be the world’s first purpose built tidal energy lagoon, has announced an open call for artists on its social media profile.

Namely, under the company’s cultural programme, an opportunity is being given to local and international artists from all disciplines and ages to apply with proposals for potential artwork to be founded on the Lagoon.

Working with international charity Cape Farewell, TLSB has established its cultural programme to create a forum for artists, scientists and communicators to be brought together to stimulate the production of art founded on scientific research.

The cultural programme consists of three programmes: International programme, Welsh programme and Swansea Bay programme – Local interventions.

Two shortlisted concepts under the International programme will each receive a budget of £10,000, three of the best concepts under the Welsh programme will receive £5,000 each, while for the third programme, the best concepts will be awarded the budged which will depend on the idea.
