Back Wind for Some Japanese Renewables

The Japanese Government has decided to cut tariffs for solar power while boosting the ones intended for offshore wind energy, the state’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry wrote on their site.

The tariffs for solar energy, which made up 97 percent of new renewable energy since incentive offering, were cut by 11 percent to 32 yen per kwh.

On the other hand, offshore wind tariffs were raised to 36 yen per kwh, which was more than expected, 30 yen per kwh.

Earlier this month, a government panel recommended change in incentives for those two energy sources so as to boost  wind power development.
