The final step of the test campaign, the so-called post fatigue static test, was successfully completed according to IEC and GL standards. Last week, IWES performed all Flapwise and Edgewise tests under supervision of the Germanischer Lloyd. All tests were carried out in four days, once again without any problems or even damages on the blade.

Even after exposing it to its complete lifetime of 25 years, the blade’s static and dynamic properties remained the same as during the initial static test. With the conclusion of all tests, the EUROS engineering team took another major step to receive the Design Assessment Certificate. The prototype blade sets are ready for erection on Mitsubishi’s Sea Angle wind turbines in Scotland and Japan.

EUROS already gained experience through the production of 5MW offshore blades in 2003 and 2006.

In 2009, the company launched its own offshore blade development. Since then all aspects of rotor blade design, manufacturing, transport and maintenance were carefully investigated in an extensive research and development program in co-operation with Mitsubishi.
