Following media reports that he was hospitalized due to a head injury, Offshore WIND contacted GeoSea, a subsidiary of DEME, as the man is a worker on the company’s jack-up vessel Neptune, which is deployed at the Ormonde wind farm, off Walney Island.

“In fact, the worker suffered a medical condition on the Neptune. There was no accident. Following strict safety procedures he was immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital,Ann Wittemans, Communication Manager at DEME, told Offshore WIND.

Ms Wittemans confirmed that the worker’s physical condition is now stable.

Ormonde offshore wind farm has been operational since 2012. The wind farm features 30 REpower 5M wind turbines with a maximum installed capacity of 150MW. As the project moved into the operational phase a number of long-term jobs were created at the control, operations and maintenance base, which is located within Barrow port.
