Taiwan’s state-owned CSBC Corp is planning to enter offshore wind energy market next year, CSBC news site reported.

According to chairman Robert Lai, the company will form a marine construction services subsidiary taking full advantage of the expanding industry.

The Taiwanese government plans to have 3 GW of installed offshore wind capacity by 2030, which would result in the installation of around 600 offshore wind turbines.

To meet this demand, CSBC will invest around EUR 73.5 million in various vessels for marine construction, including topsides and turbine installation vessels, towing vessels, barge-carrying ships, transport vessels and cable layers.

Recently, the company signed a contract for the installation of 30 wind turbines including met mast.

Besides this, CSBC confirmed it is in talks over another contract to lay subsea cables for 36 turbines.
