Marine Power Systems Boosts Its Team with Three New Members

Business & Finance

Marine Power Systems (MPS), a Swansea-based company that is developing revolutionary technology designed to capture the energy from ocean waves, has boosted its team with three new members of staff.

Andrew Grabham is the new Design/Development Engineer. Andrew brings with him 14 years’ experience in mechanical design and project management roles having previously worked for Aircraft Maintenance Support Services, a manufacturer of ground support equipment for aircraft.

Helen Kirkham joins MPS as a Personal Assistant/Office Manager to the Directors of the business. Helen brings with her 16 years of experience having worked in a similar role for Liberty Properties, a well-established local property development company.

Jean-Baptiste Le Dreff is a specialist in computer modeling. He approached MPS after developing a strong interest in the potential of wave energy while studying for a Masters Degree. He has relocated from France to work with the firm.

Dr Gareth Stockman, Managing Director of MPS, said:

“Our growth over the last year truly displays how far we have come. I am really looking forward to working with the new members of the team and seeing what they can bring to the company. As well as hiring experienced staff in Andrew and Helen, we were also keen to give experience to a student, and I think we have a great candidate in Jean-Baptiste who is passionate about the potential of the technology we are developing.”

Andrew Grabham said:

“I am very happy to be part of the team here at MPS. It’s not every day you get the opportunity to work on a project as exciting as the WaveSub.  I’m now looking forward to settling in and working with all our internal and external stakeholders and developing a machine that could potentially have a massive impact on the renewable energy sector.”

Helen Kirkham said:

“I chose MPS as I saw it as an exciting opportunity, not only to be working in the renewable energy sector but to be part of an innovative, dynamic, forward thinking company in such a varied role.”

Jean-Baptiste Le Dreff said: “I studied engineering, and specialised in renewable energies and then in marine energies and offshore devices. I chose MPS because I wanted to work in the field of wave energy. After speaking with the team I liked what they were doing and I hope to use this placement to achieve my overall goal of working as an engineer in the wave energy sector.”

Marine Power Systems was founded with the purpose of developing and bringing to market the award winning, novel, WaveSub wave energy converter.
