Tidal Transit Expanding as Offshore Wind Industry Grows

Business & Finance

Continuing growth in the construction, maintenance and operation of offshore wind farms in the coastal waters of the UK is leading to an on-going demand for Tidal Transit’s passenger transfer vessels (PTVs).

The latest manifestation of this trend is a new contract with Siemens on Westermost Rough that will start in 01 October 2014.

To support further anticipated expansion, Tidal Transit is establishing its own Marine Engineering Centre at Egmere, near Wells-next-the Sea in Norfolk, having just taken a lease on a unit that has been used for a similar operation in recent years. It will constitute the base for the company’s maintenance, parts and marine engineering activities.

“This is a very exciting time for the company,” says Tidal Transit’s Commercial Director Leo Hambro. “We see the establishment of the centre as a building block in any future expansion plans and a widening of the range of services we offers to our wind farm clients. We are very much looking forward the next stage in our development, and to building on the 30,000 safe passenger transfers completed by our present fleet of four specialist PVTs in July 2014.”
