Laurent BEAUVAIS (President of the Basse-Normandie Region and of West Normandy Marine Energy, WNME), Jean-François Le GRAND (President of the Manche General Council) and Benoît ARRIVE (President of the Urban Community of Cherbourg), will attend the conference organized by Ocean Energy Europe to be held in Paris on October 1st and 2nd, 2014.

This annual meeting dedicated to marine renewable energies in Europe gathers the industry leading players and experts during two days.

This year, Gunther Oettinger, European Commissioner for Energy and Maria Damanaki, European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, as well as several European energy ministers and influent players are expected, including West Normandy Marine Energy.

Dr Sian George, CEO of Ocean Energy Europe, the trade association for ocean renewables in Europe, highlights the potential of the Basse-Normandie region to develop MRE:

“France offers new growth opportunities for marine energies, with many projects funded and planned. Some of the first pilot-projects in Europe and, probably in the world will be located in Basse-Normandie. The huge potential for development of offshore wind and tidal technologies in the region will stimulate unprecedented economic growth in terms of job creation and reallocation of port areas.”
